Tout à coup elle sent une bonne odeur de gâteaux, et elle la suit. C'est là que sa vie bascule : elle fait la connaissance d'Henri Lucas, un pâtissier français de génie. Celui-ci découvre qu’elle possède un don rarissime : son sens du goût, tellement développé qu’elle peut ressentir les sentiments que le cuisinier a tenté d’insuffler à sa création. Il décide donc de la recommander auprès de la prestigieuse école de pâtisserie Sainte-Marie.
