Depuis l'Antiquité, les rumeurs abondent sur des démons mangeurs d'hommes qui se cachent dans les bois. C'est pourquoi les habitants de la ville ne s'aventurent jamais dehors la nuit. Depuis la mort de son père, Kamado Tanjirou a pris sur lui de subvenir aux besoins de sa mère et de ses cinq frères et soeurs.
