The Earth was then cloaked by in a nuclear winter which lasted for 6 months, and all the grain plants died. Each government fell into anarchy and transport and communication networks could not be restored easily. Soon, declarations of state establishment from the citizens in various areas came one after another, and America was split into 6 parts, adding other unapproved small states, it was divided into more than 20 countries.The story is set in 2021, 31 years after World War III. Filicia Epstein, a bionics genius, came to Sabano and Sergent Mutou was ordered to protect her. Searching for her only brother, Lyon, Filicia encountered with 1019, a cybernoid, who directed them to the phantom city, OZ, which is a shelter created by Lyon. As the story unfolds, they gradually realised what 'OZ' actually was...Very loosely based on some parts of The Wizard of Oz. Two OAVs were made.Note: Won the 24th Seiun Award for Best Comic (1993).

A friend of Hiromu called Otome who wants Hiromu to get into a club merges in the middle of the conversation and has a match against Kawazue for Hiromu joining the club, but she loses. After that, and a lot of begging, Hiromu plays against Kawazue. If he loses, Otome becomes the ping pong club manager. He almost loses, but than he remembers he always gives up and it’s time to stop giving up. Then he shows wits when Kawazue was about to go, Kawazue got back to the game, just to fall for a smash counter Hiromu who never before played ping pong set up for him, and so he got a point… And entered the ping pong club. Palepoli goes beyond the framework of standard four-panel manga and views its structure in new ways. Actually, Furuya knew nothing of conventional manga styles and methods when he started Palepoli. As a result, he created something that bore little similarity to other manga. Furuya notes that he selects his subject matter and methods with clear and precise intentions. I find it extremely rare for a manga artist to be this deliberate. A portion of Palepoli was featured in Secret Comics Japan.

In a setting where religion and the mythical power of the tree 'Pangaea' rule the world, our protagonist travels with a gang of people who have parts of Pangaea within them. He has a stick that contains the power of Pangaea which he can use to summon shoots and branches to fight. With their complicated backgrounds, they are often in fights and dangers.In the first volume, we get to see a slight glimpse of the power of Pangaea. There are others with the power of Pangaea; they can resonate, sensing each other, and those with the seed(?) have the strongest power. Nothing much is given on the family background of all the leads, what are they traveling for, how they met--nothing. All we know is that they have something in common: they are linked to Pangaea in some way--and Pangaea, (despite its power) is not common knowledge to the world.
