Trois ans plus tôt, le monde a appris l'existence d'autres espèces humanoïdes sur Terre et celles-ci ont été autorisées à s'intégrer dans la société humaine par l'entremise "d'échanges culturels". Kurusu Kimihito devient l'hôte d'un Lamia (femme-serpent) à la suite d'une erreur administrative, avec la tâche de prendre soin d'elle. Il se retrouve au loin dans une grotte au bord de la mort, épuisé et blessé lorsqu'un slime entre dans la grotte et commence à manger à sa main. Tout ce qu'il peut faire, c'est dire, "...s'il vous plaît...quelqu'un là-bas...aidez-moi..."
