Honey Kisaragi est une lycéenne normale. Du moins jusqu'à ce que son père soit assassiné par le groupe terroriste Panther Claws qui est à la recherche de sa dernière invention. Elle découvre alors qu'elle est en fait une androïde, fabriquée par son père et que la dernière invention de son père est cachée à l'intérieur de son corps. Elle tente désormais de vivre une vie normale et de prendre sa revanche sur le groupe Panther Claws.

Ryoma Nagare, Hayato Jin, and Prof. Saotome pilot three specially designed combat jets, which can be combined together in different forms to form three different kinds of giant robots, Getter-1 (used for aerial combat), Getter-2 (for land-based conflicts), and Getter-3 (for undersea battles). They were assembled by Prof. Saotome and became Earth's first line of defense against the Dinosaur Empire, which is a civilization of reptile-like humanoids, who evolved from the now-extinct dinosaurs that roamed the earth millions of years ago.

Set in a post-Apocalyptic Earth, Hayato Jin continues to lead the Saotome Research Institute after the events of Getter Robo Go. He has succeeded Professor Saotome's masterpiece prototype, the Shin Getter Robo, with a more stable creation: Getter Robo Āḥ.

After Emperor Gore and the Dinosaur Empire is defeated, a new enemy, Emperor Burai and his Hyakki (Hundred Demon) Empire rises and threatens to take over Earth. Ryoma, Hayato, and newcomer Benkei pilot the new Getter Robo G to save Earth.

Sixteen years after the completion of Getter Robo, Ken Ishikawa revived the series with Getter Robo Go. This series, and all after until Ishikawa's death, are done without Go Nagai(he is still credited as original creator).Years after the events of Getter Robo/Shin Getter Robo, Hayato Jin is the leader of NISAR; a private owned research and weapons development organization based in Japan. He, and Professor Tachibana, have been developing various weapons and building up their forces to deal with a threat that started fifteen years ago: the mad scientist Rando. When Rando's forces begin their terrorist operations around the world, NISAR begins its search for exceptional soldiers to pilot their super weapon, the Getter Robo.

Cette série poursuit la continuité Ken Ishikawa du manga Getter, qui se déroulera temporairement après Getter Robo Go et avant Getter Ah. La série présente un ancien Hayato dirigant une nouvelle équipe de Getter Pilots (et un nouveau Getter) alors qu'ils défendent la tere à partir de grands monstres semblables à des plantes.

Crossover one-shot entre Mazinkaiser et Shin Getter Robo. Il a été inclus dans Immortal Super Robot Encyclopedia (不滅のスーパーロボット大全). Le manga commence avec le Mazinger Z et le grand Mazinger se battant contre une machine étrangère après le Diana A et Venus A ont été démolis.
