Marisa Kirisame rencontre Hieda no Akyu au Village des Humains, et remarque qu'elle porte un livre étrange, un livre de démons, réputé indéchiffrable. Ensuite, elle se dirige vers le Sanctuaire Hakurei pour demander des informations à Reimu Hakurei, or elle ne sait pas grand chose sur ce sujet. Marisa lui explique sa nature sombre et mystérieuse, et toutes deux décident de faire un tour à Suzunaan pour parler à Kosuzu Motoori. Elle révèle sa collection de livres démoniaques, ainsi que ses pouvoirs récemment éveillés qui lui permettraient de déchiffrer n'importe quel texte. Reimu s'inquiète car cela pourrait être dangereux, mais Kosuzu demeure assez insouciante à ce sujet...
